First Ride W.Mass
WIth the great weather weekend myself and the boys decided to give Mom a day to her self and loaded up the ATVs and headed for the mountains to do a little preseason turkey scouting and to see what is going on in the deep woods
We met my cousin and his wife and we headed off for a day of exploring. A knapsack of goodies and off we went.
The last winter storm we had did a hell of a job on the trees in the woods.
We had a great day in the woods exploring many of the mountainous trails, old Indian burial grounds, and the trout streams I fished as a teenager which hold native brook trout.
A few pics from the day Hope you enjoy

It was a blast. Some of the terrain was a bit challenging for sure, and thank god for the skid plates
My sons little Arctic Cat 150 did fine over all the rocks and ruts which surprised me....
Things that I learned on this ride:
Need a compass or GPS
Need a small folding saw
A bottle of fix a flat and a small hand pump probably not a bad idea
Need some sort or front storage bag (anyone know where to buy one??)

Instead of a small hand pump buy a 12 volt air compressor. About 30 bucks with an air presure gauge built in at most parts store's. Concerning bags, look on line at Wallmart, I just bought a nice camo bag in the Mena Arkansas wallmart for 70 bucks. Also keep an eye on Tractor supply, they will clearance their ATV stuff often.

We all use a GPS mounted to our handle bars. This allows us to track and mark where we've been. I can change trail colors each day and even print maps if the need arise's. Concerning the 12 v pump, go ahead and get some plugs and the tools to install the plugs, very cheap save on the trail if you poke a small hole in a tire. We like to take a night ride and in the dark the trails look very different. The GPS have save us several times from being lost, even on trails we know. At our park its not unsual for some new riders to spend the nigh in the back of the park because thier lost. Good luck and also look at sportsmanguide.com, they will have some deals sometimes.
