Default At a loss 03 ltz400

It sat for about 8 years wasn't running when I got it. new to all of this but I have taken carb off and cleaned carb and jets twice, cleaned fuel tank, new battery, oil change, cleaned petcock, got it running. It idles perfectly but while your riding it it just dies out and it's hard to start afterwards fires right up again after a few minutes. Not sure what else it could be the machine is stock everything. Any help would be appreciated at a total loss thank you in advance

When's the last time you did a compression test? I'd do that next. I'd also confirm spark when it dies...right after it dies, pull the plug & ground to bare metal and crank...if no or weak spark then that'll point you to electrical...
