Default 2005 John Deere Buck 500 with starting Issue

I purchased this ATV a few days ago and the manual start works perfectly but the starter just spins. So I ordered a replacement, installed it tonight and it just spins as well.

When I tested the starter independently I notices the bendix didn't extend at all to engage. Is it suppossed to extend to engage on this model or do I have another issue all together?

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I would love to hear them...

yes they do normally extend on electric starts so i think that it might be a different issues altogether because if you ordered a new one and that one did not extend either then it might be that its not getting the correct power. and if its not supposed to extend which i've never seen you have issues other than the actual starter.
