PS-4 Plus OIL?
Ok, I recieved Polaris PS-4 Plus Performance synthetic 4-cycle engine oil for x-mas. It says it is for manual shifting atvs. This is not what I have been putting in my Sportsman 500 HO. Has the regular engine oil been replaced by this oil for all atvs? Or do I have to go and buy the RIGHT oil now? It does no even say what weight the oil is? The dealer was told what machine it was for and this is what they gave them. Thanks in advance for any info....

PS-4 OIL?
manual shifting machines need a different type of oil (all it has is an additive) because they have wet clutches. wet clutches use the same oil that the motor uses but because oil is made to reduce friction there is an additive that lets the clutch get some of that friction back. it slightly reduced the protection against wear in motors so i wouldnt use it is a motor unless it has a wet clutch.

PS-4 OIL?
I believe the PS-4 is for wet clutch ATVs, the PS-4 does not have all the additives for less friction like reg. synthetic has, if you used reg. synthetic in a wet clutch, the clutch would slip too much. I use reg amsoil synthetic in my 04 SP500, because of no wet clutch. It won't hurt anything to use the PS-4, but you will not have all the benefits of the reg. synthetics, thats my 2 cents or less

PS-4 OIL?
called several polaris dealer to get the awnser....he says this oil replaced the premium 0w-40 oil for all atvs-2002 and up. So I guess there is is just one oil for everything...they just added an additive for the wet cluch.....I guess I will use it in my sportsman 500 and 700.....bad they cant even put the weight on the bottle!
