I have a Scrambler, its making a thumping noise where the casing id for the transmission in the side of the 4-wheeler.. It does it while sitting in nuetral.. Its getting worse. Does anyone know what that could be?? Or can you take the plastic cover off?? Does anyone know where the dipstick is for the transmission? We didnt know if you can take the cover off, or does the polaris people do it? I would much rather fix it myself..

Take cover of and take belt a look. You have to learn anyways you do not want to go to a dealer just to change a belt. The oil dip stick is in the oil tank below the left front fender.

Thanks!! You are exactly right! I didnt want to take it to the dealer and have them do it cause it would cost me a arm and a leg! I appreciate it!

The dipstick for the transmission... we have looked everywhere for it..

Go to utube and search Polaris belt and you will get a video of a belt being changed. Not sure how you check the tranny fluid on a scrambler but on a sportsman the tranny dip stick is on top of the tranny.

Just wanted to say Thanks!!! The belt was the problem and the video from youtube helped out alot. Got another belt for 50 bucks and now its running great, the old belt had quite a few teeth missing in one spot. Thanks Again!!
