Depends. If I work it hard, more. If I don't, less often.

When to replace the CVT belt

too me it seems a waste of money to be changing the belt unless it shows signs of needing it(ie slippage, lose of power/speed,smelling burt belt form overheating or slipping) as every time that cover comes off, it's that much more of a chance that the gasket/cover gets damage or wear and in comes the water. of course it's only my own
ps. you make sure to have the tools w/ you to take it apart in the woods as well as an extra belt as well

My '03 twin still has the original belt. I had it looked at last year and it looked just like new. I run a lot of wet and mud, and snow and pull my fish thru deep snow. Never had an issue. Of course a little preventative maintenance is always good but who knows. I also have a '93 Polaris 500 snowmobile that had the origanal belt on it until last year. I thought I should change it after 17 years....

Well just bought a new belt yesterday for my 2006 Sportsman 450, With 3900 miles .....I never did have the cover off yet....LOl..
I noticed a small sound when starting up in park ........like a strand spinning around hitting the cover at low idle.........65.99 Canadian at the Polaris dealer........
And there are specs listed in my factory polaris manual for the belt min/max size to check for I don't remember them ...But if anybody wants to know I will post them.....Caper...........
Also have on order a new float/sending unit for the fuel tank........

Thanks caper! I've been wondering what the limits are on that belt... I don't run that one I use the rzr belt but as far as the clutches go it would probably be about the same limit even tho the rzr belt is a touch wider to start with... If I'm wrong in my assumption someone PLEASE let me know. But thanks again!

it did "creep" a little at first but it didn't do it for very long. I can't remember the exact specs but it's about 1/16" or 3/32" wider and an 1/8" shorter than 3211077. The polaris part # I've been using is 3211113 and it's been great until I sunk my bike and didn't know that my belt cover gasket was no good and burnt it up while stuck But now that that's fixed and a new belt I imagine I won't have any more trouble out of it for quite some time. Being that it's for an 800 rzr and i've got it on a 400 trailblazer
