im not really worried about electric start, it always fires 1st or 2nd pull even in this cold weather.. i just want my headlight to function properly.. i tried hooking up jumper cables from my truck to the solenoid and ground, there was no result.. im leaning towards the fact that i may need a new voltage regulator

Very few. Resistance is no way to test a starter circuit.

Default flickering/dim lights

Most of the time, flickering or dim lights can be cured simply by raising the rpm to spec. or slightly over.

Does this have to come from the dealer, or are there any aftermarket ones that work?

Thanks for your help.
Hi Indy Guy.
I've been getting new parts on Ebay for low,low prices.(new)
My wife bought a 230s that I am replacing/rebuilding parts on.
I just put a new clutch in, tried to start it, now it's missing.
Will go to ebay for ign.coil.
Note: click on the item you need & check for no cost on shipping.
