2001 Suzuki LT80 - Have questions
#12
I bought my daughter an LT 80 for riding in the dunes and it has been awesome. Someone ran into her and broke the rear suspension off the back end, so that means an engine replacement and, uh, yeah.
Between all of my nephews and nieces we've had all of the different small quad iterations in camp at one time or another and the the Suzuki 80 beats them all easily, and far more reliable to boot.
I took the well-used OEM tires off the back of my LTR 450 (18") and put them on some Douglas wheels. It works great in the sand plus I don't have to swap tires out when she rides it in the dirt. They are a lot wider than stock. The other thing that helped a lot was getting the 1 1/2" wheel spacers for all four corners. Good luck

re: broken rear suspension.
When you said that the rear suspension broke off the machine are you talking about the aluminum casing broke where they mount? If that the prob, you might be able to just buy a left side case and transfer the everything over to the new case. Might save you alot of money. Just a thought. From what I have learned about rebuilding my KFX80 its looks harder then what it actually is! Thanks to LT80 !!!
With all the knowledge i have learned from these forums and around the internet. It make it easy enough for a 5 year old to build one. I would love building these little machines as a side job. They are soo easy to rebuild. Im actually might be looking for another project LT80 or KFX 80 and work my way up to something bigger. Well good luck.

Thanks KFX, I appreciate the advice, yeah the aluminum mounts in the back were completely broken off. I was trying for the 'quick' solution, meaning buying a complete unit, I'll probably end up doing that just to have a spare motor.
Yeah, LT80 is da man. I would be taking it to a local shop here if not for his advice here.
