Default coil failure common on LT80?

I'm chasing random stalling on a lt80, runs great for a few seconds then shuts down like I turn the ignition off. I'm 90% sure its loosing spark. are coil failures common? Is there any type of low oil safety on these?
thanks, Joe

I will double check that- but it shuts down instantly rather than the tradional fuel starvation shutdown.

Interesting...couple seconds isn't much time to generate a whole lot of heat...however, when dealing with electronics, anything is possible...
