Default No Hour Meter Kodiak 400?

New to the forums and with the purchase of my first atv will become a regular.
Looked at a 2005 Kodiak 400 4x4 yesterday. Looked in great shape. The seller says it hardly gets used and thinks there is less than 30 hours on it but there is no mileage/hour meter. I looked and did not see one. All that was on it is a speedo with a trip meter. Is this a hour/mileage meter on it somewhere? How would you know when to do maintenance on it? Thanks!

I have an 05 Kodiak 450 4x4 which has a clock/hour meter directly below the speedo MPHand to the lower left is the odometer/tripA/Trip B. I don't know if yours is suippose to be the same and I wish I could show you the picture in the manual. There are some reset buttons the hrs. & odometer which actually look like blank buttons with two of them to the far left and two to the far right. I didn't know thats what they were until I looked just now so maybe fire it up and poke those buttons if it has them. Better yet find a owners manual and its on page 4-5. Maybe I'm all wrong but just trying to help.

I might add also if all else fails I put an Hr. & RPM meter on my wifes Bruin 350 which doesn't have any Inst. cluster so I would know the hrs. for maintenance. I believe it was $39.95 from Cabelas and very easy to install.

Thanks for the replies oldbear. Looks like there is just a trip meter on this one. I read in the manual that some models do not have an odometer/hr meter and they suggest doing maintenance by time intervals instead of miles. I don't like that idea. I think I may get one and install it - cheap remedy. Thanks again.
