I don't have a manual but I don't think Yamaha made a 50cc badger in the 80's. There was an 80cc without shocks then there was a 100cc with shocks. The 100 was called a Champ in some years. You can check the 10th digit on the VIN will be the last digit of the year built (example if the 10th digit is a 7 it's a 1987).

Guess I should have got here sooner, could have saved you $5
Here is a link to what you have in case anyone else is looking.

A word of advice don't test run the engine with the cover over the flywheel off.
It holds in place a pin that your shift forks are on and it will fall out after 15 mins or so and you will have to split the cases to put the trans back together. That is after you find a few new gears. (palms forehead)
Also, it would not be a bad idea to split the case and examine 2nd gear or at least look closely in the sump and screen area for any steel bits.
Second got used the most on these moto 4 80cc and is the most like to be pitted. (hopefully not, but it would be good to check) If it looks good the rest of your trans should be fine. Second gear is no longer available new. Although the newer badgers use the same trans without a 4th gear. It may be possible to use that gear although Yamaha lists it with a different part number.
New valves are cheap, and may be worn to a sharp margin. Mine were so look close at yours. Also make sure the bore is in good condition and within spec. Min compression on these is 144 (?) so the valves and cylinder must be in good shape. Otherwise these are a bullet proof little engine.
