Default big bear no spark

I am working on a 98 Yamaha big bear that will not start it ran fine then sat for a month or so know will not start. I pulled plug and it looked really old so I did replace it first. If I ground the plug against the head and crank it will spark once or twice in about 20 minutes of playing with it. The rest of the time no spark. I even pulled the pink wire going into the coil and checked for power while cranking and nothing. So I pulled all front plastic last night and am not really seeing anything that screams rubbed or chewed wire. Please point me in the right direction on were to check the other end of the pink coil wire for power at source. I also see there is a black on the coil assuming it is just a ground. Thanks in advance

The sparkplug cap could be bad. If it is a bakelite (hard plastic) it will have a diode that could be bad, or you could have a c.d.i. that has gone bad. Also it could be coil a coil.

Well I have messed with it a little more and seem like I get more spark more often but sure does seem week I am thinking maybe start with a new coil since it could be week. Is there a good way to test with another power source straight to it or something to see if it runs then.
