Default Questioning Stator Test

I read an old reply to a 2005 post '99 big bear 350 no fire.'
A member 'renegade888' posted on how to test the Stator. (SEE LINK)

http://forums.atvconnection.com/yama...ml#post1491194

I ran the tests as described on my '94 Kodiak 400 today and everything checked out - except the test for a Short.
According to the test I have a short in the Stator.

I would like to know if how the test is described is correct. - He said...

"The stator windings are supposed to be completely isolated from the engine metal."

Correct on the stator windings should not be shorted to ground. Just a continuous winding.
