Ask the Editors: Beginner Quads with IRS?
Is there a midsize ATV with the IRS treatment?
That is a great theory except for two key factors. The first is that most youth-centric models are spec’ed to keep cost and maintenance potential down (and four shocks would do the opposite of either) and secondly IRS is generally preferred for applications such as mudding and rock-climbing, two areas beginners rarely find themselves.
However, all hope isn’t lost. There must be a “smallest” model out there to come standard with IRS right? There sure is but as small as you’re hoping. The smallest ATV to offer IRS for 2019 comes to us from CFMoto CForce 400. The engine is good for 36-horsepower, it uses a CVT automatic transmission and shaft final drive. Ground clearance is an impressive 10.8″
