Ask The Editors: What Size Flywheel Puller Do I Need?

What is the correct flywheel puller size for Chinese ATVs?
Fly(wheel) like a Falcon.

Dear ATVC: Hi Folks, new here. Does anyone know what size of puller is needed to remove the flywheel on a Kazuma Falcon 110cc?

The vast majority of small bore Chinese ATVs (50-125cc) were designed to use a 28×1.0 RH size puller.

We say “most” because, and we discuss this often here, Chinese machines don’t adhere to make/ model standards like traditional Japanese and North American manufactured machines. Often “brands” in their case are relegated to whatever stickers the factory in question happens to have in stock and models are copy/ paste across dozens of sizes and model codes.

If you don’t want to chance the $15 on a 28×1.0 RH puller, companies like Rocky Mountain Bearings do offer universal flywheel puller kits for $35 that will get the job done for you without any risk, and be there for any make/ model machine you may buy in the future (link here).

Finally, you have a third option if you’re a fairly competent backyard mechanic and that’s to attempt to remove it without a puller. This one is a bit risky so we’d advise considering it only if all other options fail you. Here’s a tutorial video on how to do it from YouTube:
