Stock, I needed to re-jet the carb down to a 90 for my elevation (4500ft). I have since gutted the muffler, added an NGK DP8EA-9 plug, put on a 5" foam filter that's attached directly to the carb. I also re-jetted it back to the stock size (98).
When I first got the bike, top speed was about 50mph with the 90 jet. With my mods, top speed is 65mph with the stock sprocket! It has plenty of power everywhere, especially the top end now. I'm still using the stock sprocket (56) and it seems to be redlining at 65mph.
The difference is amazing. I weigh 275 and I smoke a friend of mine with a 200GY that is stock and he weighs 175. I can go up steeper hills than he can, even though I weigh 100lbs more and am 6" taller than he is.
I'm going to upgrade the pipe soon, change the sprockets, and re-jet it to a 100 or 102. I think I'll get a really small front sprocket and larger rear sprocket for the hills and do the opposite for street use.

Hey guys,
I just put a new air filter that fits directly onto the carburetor today. The increased air flow has only given me about 5 mph more top speed. However, the hidden benefit of the more efficient air filter is the increase in torque! Any loss of torque that I suffered when I switched to a smaller rear sprocket has been reclaimed.
I highly recommend the new air filter mod to any novice rider because its so easy to do compared to some pf the other mods. All you have to do is go to a local motorcycle shop or search online for an air filter that fits a 38 mm or 1.5 inch carburetor opening. I hope this information is useful to somebody.
Have fun,

Thx Gyfan! I will do that. I had already thought about it, but that seals the deal for me. I will go get one this week, or possibly order one off this site, I had looked at him on this site before, they look cool. Do you, or can you take a pic of that and show us??

Hey Rams,
Long time, no see. Good to see ya around. Anyway... I bought an EMGO model number12-55742 Tapered Air Filter with a Universal Clap-on.
Sure, I'll give you a link to the exact air filter that I bought from my local bike shop. I didn't buy it from this web site that I'm giving you though...so, I don't know if they are reputable or not.

As mentioned before...I wouldn't be shocked if you don't see much improvement on your top-end. Its those hills that you will see the major difference. The hardest thing to do when putting this air filter on is taking the old one off! Which really wasn't all that difficult to do either.

You should be able to get shocks from this site. They have a good variety of parts, that would be the first place i would check. If they dont have them, my local bike shop is the place i always go, they are the ones that got me the sprocket and pipe i needed.
Happy New Year Everyone!!
