About the RPM think i suggest you get a smaller rear sproket what size sproket do you have now? I have a 48 tooth sproket and it does about 50mph comfortable but if you ride yours more on the road i would go with a smaller one like a 42 tooth. you can get one at www.xrtracing.com.

Don't get me wrong, I have had my share of parts fall off and such. Last night I actually went back through and put some loctite on a few more bolts. I agree that not everything always matches up. But I guess for the price I am happy.

Would getting a smaller sproket raise the rpms and lower the speed. I guess I don't understand how a smaller sproket would would make it faster. My logic tells me that a smaller sproket would give more power, but less speed and a bigger sprocket would give less power and more top end, but be slow getting there with less rpm's. Maybe I am thinking about it all wrong.

Yeah you are thinking backwards a smaller sproket on the back gives you more speed, or a bigger sprocket on the front would give you more speed but I dont think there is room for a bigger sprocket on the front. A bigger sprocket on the rear would give you more power and torque but less speed therefore on the road you need a smaller sprocket on the back, I know it sounds backwards but its right its hard to explain just trust me. I would go with a 42 tooth sprocket I had a 56 tooth and I could only get to like 45mph and then the rpms would be too high, and now I have a 48 tooth and it does better but I could still use a little more speed on the road, it still has the low and tourque and does great in the woods with the 48 tooth so you should be good with a 40 or 42 tooth sprocket.

Thanks for all the info. I have just one more question. How high is too high for rpms. I can go about 50-55, but the rpms are around 8500. Is that too hard on the engine?

Your RPMs are up to 8500? Woooah! Your tachometer must have the wrong ratio! Your tachometer probably has a 2:1 ratio instead of a 1:1 ratio. Your rpm is probably more like 4250. The engine would tear up quickly on these bikes if you were really riding at 8500 rpm. My tachometer connects to the spark plug wire so that gives a more accurate reading. I never let my RPMs go above 5500.

Could be, the manual says for break in not to exceed 6500 and redline is at 11000. Although I am not sure how accurate the redline is.

I dont really know cause my tachometer doesnt work but I would say anything over 6500 would be too high, I would definitley get a 40 or 42 tooth sprocket this would cure the problem, but you will have to have a chain break to shorten the chain up.

hi all just read the last about sprokets and thing and rpm .ok sprokets is all about ratio . if you divide the rear sproket by the front you will get your ratio so for offroad 17 front 57 rear =3.35 to 1 ie the front will turn 3.35 turns to one off the rear .this will = low top end and high rpm mph about 55mph but better pick up for all the hills and stuff. now before you pick a back sproket you need to no the front ie. 15 16 17 the most used front is 17 as it helps clear the cain from the swinging arm and the rubber block. but they do use the other sizes as well so count them . the set up i use is 17 front 47 rear that =2.76 to 1 this will work better for road as will lower rpm and improve mph 65/70 mph with out over rev as for going lowe on the back ie 42 43 44 45 would be ok at a push with 16 front but dont recomend with 17 front .i hope this will help you all and keep all your gy200 running sweet . thanks from the uk nutterted . one more thing dont cut the pipe out your back box with out rejet and air filter mod as will run to weak and poss burn valves out . may sound good but for how long ? .

Hey i'm new to the Jetmoto game. I had a Yamaha TTR-230 bike and was very pleased with it until i had to sell it.... So now i'm looking for a Dual Sport bike. The Jetmoto 200 seems to have some great features and good reviews also. I am reading mixed reviews about the top end on this bike. The mafactures sites says 75 max speed but here you guys are saying sprockets need to be changed and then some are saying its doable being stock... Confusion! and then I was told by local dealer that its the same engine as the honda XR200.. Can some one hlep me out please?

Weelcome to the forum allmotor!

I would think if you had a TTR225 and got a Jetmoto 200 you would be very disapointed with it. And the engine is definitely not a XR200 copy. Not quite sure what it is but its not a XR200 copy.
