Default 2003 e-ton 90 looses spark

Looking for some input on a spark issue with this 2 stroke 03 eton viper 90! After 2-3 revolutions of the engine, it looses spark. If I let up on the start button and wait a few seconds, and push it again, it will spark for the 2-3 revolutions. This is a project handed down to me because the previous person tried stators, multiple CDI units, spark plugs, unplugging of switches, and wire harness inspection. Oh yes, a different coil as well. All with the same results! The previous person thinks the CDI boxes are bad, even the new ones. The company where they got them from says something is burning the CDI boxes out. Is this possible? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I was hoping someone with eton experience would respond. I've never even seen an eton. But there is at least some documentation available. Here is a page that has some troubleshooting guidelines for etons:

Troubleshooting

There are also wiring diagrams at this same site, plus manuals.

Do you have an eton viper 90, or a viper 90R? How many wires on your CDI? Are you able to look at the wiring diagrams the above link and see if one of them matches your quad? Do you have a remote start/stop module installed?

The wiring for the 5 wire CDI looks reasonably straight forward. The wiring for the 17 wire CDI looks much harder.

You mentioned that one of the troubleshooting techiques was "unplugging of switches". I just wanted to point out that etons (according to the published wiring diagrams) disable spark when switches are unplugged. This is backwards from chinese quads, where unplugging switches enables spark.
