need chain size and new master link
#3
hey, don't buy the chain from an independant dealer unless you want to pay out of the nose for it. i've found that farm and ranch supply places, such as a tractor supply for ranching/farming and etc... carry the chains, master links, half links, and pretty much every chain size there is to offer. the local dealer here wanted $10.00 for a master link and 7.00 for a half link. i went to a tractor supply place and got both for $4.00. yeah, go figure!!!! hope this helps on supply. but yes, the manual should tell you what size chain it is unless you have some and then a supply house can tell you the size....

found out its a 520 54 link chain, now looking for a for a sprocket set, I can find the primary sprocket around, but no luck with the secondary one. I will have to get a tooth count on those yet, but storms in the forecast so I may have to wait them out to crawl under it again. Looks like I will need brake shoes as well. It does have a new carb, and the oil was fresh and full, new fuel filter and solenoid as well. Looks like everyone sells the tensioner, but holding off on that until I see how badly stretched the chain is. It was skipping teeth under load, so I cranked the tensioner all the way up, seems better but now its very hard to shift.
