Default chin quad brand?

Can anyone tell me from the pic below what brand chin quad this is? Do you know what major brand quad design this is built on? I have an lt80 for my son who is 11 and it is getting small for him. Any ideas how well this would do compared to an lt80? I am looking for something just a little bit bigger, but maybe 110cc is still too small? The guy that is selling this wants $550 for it, does that sound like a good price?

Hard to say from that pic. Could be a Taotao. You can get one like that shipped to your door for ~$600, plus all the unknowns and aggravation associated with 'mail-order'. If it's brand-new, $550 would be a decent price.

Could you post a pic of it from the front?

looks the same as a Sunl. but who knows there are so many that look alike and get a different name brand sticker.

i would worry about reliability issues compared to the lt80.

That's a fact. You're going to want to go up another size for 11+yrs old. The 110cc I have is basically the same size and it fits my 8yr old OK, but not all that much room to spare.

Your going the wrong way....your downgrading.

My son upgrade from what you have pictured here to an LT80. The LT is faster, more capable and more durable.....its just flat out a better machine.

The pictured quad has crap suspension and will rattle itself apart in short order if rode like the LT80. Its also not any bigger....comparing my sons LT80 to his old 110cc the LT is actually bigger. I am running wheel spacers on the LT though, which does make it look bigger.

Your going backwards......WAY backwards.

If your expecting any kind of upgrade from the LT80 dont even consider a China wheeler.

Honestly if I was you (and looking for a beginner sport quad) I would look for a Honda TRX250EX....just bought one for my son, 2001 with a handful of performance parts - $1300. These are clutchless semi-autos....I can have a newbie ripping up the field in about 5 mins.

If your wanting a utility ATV your in even better luck....find a late 90s, early 2000s.....200cc or above utility wheeler. Ive got a 200cc Honda and a 300cc Suzuki....both are great quads. The Honda cost me $750 and the Suzuki was $1450 (but its 4wd).

You would be really disappointed with the pictured quad.....especially if your expecting anything resembling the experience you have with the LT80 out of it.

Thanks for the replies, you confirmed what I was thinking. I think he is going to have to stick with the lt80 for this year.

The LT is still a great machine.....and I was lucky to find one for $800 when I bought mine. If you work it right you should be able to upgrade for nothing....or very little.

This is my 100lbs 9 year old.

On his LT80

This machine fits him great....heck it was made for him, perfect size but.......he wants reverse, he wants a few gears and he wants to be able to pull and haul things.

This is a machine I bought for myself to piddle in the yard with but as you can see it fits him pretty good to. This was actually cheaper then the LT80.....I think I have $725 in this. Its a 1994 Honda Fourtrax 200 Type II. Seems your son MAY be happy with something like this as its a utility wheeler (assuming since you were looking at the Chine ute thats what your looking for). Its semi-auto so no clutch learning....although it wouldnt be a problem at his age. Its not terrible fast but fast enough......plenty of low end grunt and its pretty handy on the trails.

Heck ATVs have gotten large both physically and motor wise in the last 5+ years. Back in the day a 400cc machine was a beast......now its considered weak and pathetic by most.

An older larger machine may fit him well to.

This is my son pushing snow with my 300cc Suzuki King Quad...its a 2000. While my son looks a little small on it your son is far older (and Im assuming larger). Ive got $1400 in this machine with new ITP Mudlites, a winch and Moose 50in plow.

Lastly my son riding a TRX250EX.....just bought this for him but its to powerful.....I let him ride it with direct supervision occasionally. It would be great for your son though. Again, semi-auto.....easy to ride. Its a 2001 and I paid about $1250.

My recommendation is to go name brand, used and full size.....but on the smaller end of full size. If you work it right this will be the last quad you have to buy him.....
