Default Leaking Intake Valve

I have a little 100cc, not sure of brand without looking, but after having trouble getting it started, I narrowed it down to a leaking intake valve. If I put gas in the intake/exaust whatchamacallit, where the sparkplug is poking through, the gas leaks through the intake valve. It takes about 30-60sec to empty.

I picked up some emory cloth, and plan on trying to clean the valve to see if I can get it to seal better. But if it comes down to it, I need to replace the valve.
I've looked on youtube, and google, but need instructions on how to go about removing/replacing. I have no idea where to start.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum tastyatv!

The head will need to be removed from the engine..and you will either need to buy a valve spring compressor or make 1 out of a c clamp. The valve spring needs to be compressed so you can get the 2 small valve keepers out(valve keepers are small tapered tube halves that catch a groove in the valve and spring cap to keep the valve assy together). Then you could either lap or replace the valve.

Thanks for the information! Do you have any links to explain further how to make a c clamp compressor, and how to correctly lap the valve?

You have to cut out the center of the clamp on the flat fixed end. The hole has to be big enough to get the keepers out & back in. Use a clamp that has a big flat head so it will compress the retainer evenly. Hope this helps.
