Default Tao Tao clutch rebuild

I've just rebuilt my 110 cc Tao Tao clutch and it all went back together well (so I thought). When I depress the gearshift down for forward gear, the quad takes off as soon as the lever is released. Same happens for reverse. It will not stand and idle after put in gear. I have ran through the clutch adjustment procedures found on other posts but it makes no difference at all. What is confusing me is that when I took the old clutch plates out, they were all in terrible shape except one. And the one that still had some friction pad left had it on both sides. But the replacement discs don't have friction pad on both sides of this particular disc. I've searched and searched for replacement discs and I keep coming up with the same ones (set of three). I've installed the new discs in alternating order plate/friction/plate, etc. I'm completely out of ideas. I appreciate any help in advance.
