Loncin 110 Starting Problems
#1
Wow not another Loncin starting problem!! I just found this forum so I am wondering if anyone can help. I have a 3 spd with reverse atv that starts no problem if I push start it and jump it into gear. However the electric start doesn't work at all. I changed the relay and still get nothing. It doesn't even turn over. Before I spend money on a new starter, I was wondering if there is something else I am missing.

1) Follow the positive battery fat red lead to the starter solenoid terminal. Follow the other solenoid terminal fat read lead down to the starter input terminal. Set the brake, and make sure your quad is in neutral. Take a screwdriver and short the above two lugs on the starter solenoid together. Don't mind a few sparks. Does the starter motor turn?
2) If the starter doesn't turn then jump the quad battery to your car using jumper cables. Repeat test 1 above. Does the starter turn now?
3) If the starter does turn, then turn on the ignition switch and apply the brakes. Look at your brake light. Is it on? Most quad have an interlock that prevents the starter from turning unless the brakes are applied. This is very similar to the interlock on your car where the starter won't work unless the car is in park or neutral. On your quad inf the brake light isn't on then your quad starter won't turn.
The results of these tests will tell us which of three directions to go next.
