Qingqi xf200ATV-D
#1
First off, id like to introduce myself to the forums, notice some people here actually ride chinese quads! (yay maybe i can get mine working).
Okay back to business. I just bought a Chinese Quinqi XF200ATF-D, and when i try to start it, the Starter spins, moving the 'middle' gear between the Starter and the transmission housing. I also noticed that when i put it in gear, it moves like its in neutral.
Is my tranny toast? Any ideas on how to get it going?

Didnt see an edit button, so sorry if double posting is not allowed..
An update: Figured out why the bike rolled in gear, the cable was replaced by the previous owner, which was too short, never letting the clutch to fully disengage. A little redneck ingenuity got that solved. Ordered a new starter thinking that the polarity somehow got reversed on the old one.
Anyone have an idea why the gear in the trans is spinning? Gotta open it up this week regardless, dropped a washer in the gear box

Ha! I've been down that road, then wound-up with the paper clip and magnet in there too! Pgh- it sounds like you've got a good handle on the situation. Man I thought the name Taotao is rough. Kinky (Qingqi) is hysterical!

Yeah i have a few years in the ATV/ATC world. Was rebuilding carbs at 11 in my 1980 Big Red.
Turns out the washer was in the Stator side (whew!) so yeah, fairly easy.. now i need to find me a starter!! I ordered one from Eagle ATV but its on backorder for 3-4 weeks..
Any ideas for good sources?
EDIT: I also noticed the gear that was spinning was not faulty.. had to be the starter.
