Im looking at a used 110cc redcat atv. its the mid fram with 8" wheels and a manual auto clutch tranny with reverse. Is this a good quad? its the sport model looks alot like a yamaha.. They want 700 for it 2 years old i believe.. looks like the exact same engine my sons small 110 has which has been trouble free but sucks on hills and sucks on rough trails gets stuck and hung up and struggles on hills because of the gearing. is this a good intermidiate model? also is it a good price? tires look almost new and other than a crack on the plastic fender looked to be in good shape. I also noticed it has front and rear brakes which is somthing he needs!

Pros to redcat is Kazuma parts are available.
Kazuma manuals are available.
Cons: 110cc is weak hill climber, 125cc works better.
Mid frame with 8" tires is still small quad. The bigger full size quads with 10" wheels are better intermediate quads. They are still smaller than "Real" name brand atvs.
My daughter runs a 110cc that is ok for her, but she is 10 and about 80lbs. It would not be a good quad for a kid older than 12 and over 100lbs. It would be to weak out of the hole.
To get good climbing and good out of the gate response a 125cc or 150cc would be a better choice. It really depends on the size of the rider and where you are going to ride. On flat tracks my daughter's atv would scream, but on hills she would fall short.
The price is too high too. I have 3 vendors in St.Louis selling brand new 110cc on Craigslist for $595. You can get brand new 125cc for under $800. I even have a guy that will drop ship a 250cc water cooled to my driveway for $900 if I buy 3 or more.
110 cc KIDS ATV AUTOMATIC (REMOTE SHUT OFF-SPEED GOVERNOR)**NEW**2010
I would offer $500 and keep looking for anything more.

I was hoping that the manual tranny would help on hills. His auto 110, if you stop on a hill won't take off again just bogs. Would this thing compare to a ds 90? He's rode one of them quite a bit and it runs circles around his little 110. He is 9 and a good rider the small frame atv is too small and sucks on trails. If this redcat performs as good as a ds 90 it would be perfect. When he rides our relatives ds he can go just about anywhere I can with my 250 trailblazer.

put it to you this way, i'm thinking about buying a 110cc quad from a friend of mine for $150.00 and nothing is wrong with it. 700 sounds steep. but with a manual, you can rev and have decent output for climbing or whatever in the gears you select.........
