Tao Tao 250D stuck in WOT
#1
Hello i was having some trouble with my quad starting, so i decided to take the carb off and clean it up. I didnt make any changes to any adjustment screws, got it all back together and now the quad starts but go directly to WOT (Wide open throttle). I did read about this:
(((WARNING!!!WARNING!!WARNING!!!
Remember I said the slide must go back in the same way it came out? The slide will go in 2 ways. ONLY 1 way is the right way. If the slide is not put in the same way, upon start the quad will take off at full throttle. Make sure when you go to start the quad you have a hand on the kill tether or switch this way if it does take off you can dissable it. If this happens the slide was put back in 180 degrees out.)))
Ok so i have tried both ways and it doesn't matter, it remains at WOT, I found this on the net:
Check your throttle slide. Grooved side goes on pin & ramped side goes on idle screw side.
Just for clarification, is the grooved side the one where it has the slit all the way up the side and the ramped side is a short slit from the bottom?
I also noticed that my thumb throttle is very loose now and easy to move, whereas before it was somewhat tight.
with the throttle slide out, the thumb throttle feels as it should, but once i screw it back on it gets very loose again???
Tell me if this is right or not, from what i can tell, the needle stays on the bottom, then a W like clip goes over that to keep the needle in, then the spring goes on top of that, if thats the case why is my cable very loose when screwed back on?
Is the W clip supposed to go on top of the spring, so when the cable is pressed/pulled it causes the throttle to accelerate?
my cable is in good condition, although i did take it out and lubricate it thinking it may be getting stuck, but no luck.
What did i do wrong, what do i need to do to get my throttle working properly?
Signed hope to have running to ride this weekend!

The cable is loose because you still do not have the pin in the carb body and the groove/slot aligned. The slide is not going to the bottom of the carb.
You should be able to look in the carb and see the slide. It should be very close to the bottom of the carb.

Thank you LT80,
I will check that out, i also read this: The slide can be installed 2 ways. The slot that the cable goes into always goes opposite of the idle screw.
now that i have the correct position, i will focus more to ensure its properly seated and if not find out why.
Thanks for your help!

LT80,
you were right on the money, the throttle slide was in the right spot, but was not pushed all the way to the bottom, thus causing my WOT issue, the cable was in very good shape, regardless i took it out and lubricated it just in case. Since who knows when this was last adjusted, I am now going to adjust the carb to see if i can get it to run a tad better.
