First off here is a good write up on 2 stroke carb tunning

After lowering the clip on main jet one notch and retuning the mixture screw it runs great! No more dead spot in throttle

I highly recommend the 2/stroke race cdi on eBay! It has a light that tells you if the stator is functioning and really makes a big difference! I have a cheapo open element China filter and removed the screen in the muffler. Runs a gps proven 42mph with my 225lb butt on it!

from a mechanical standpoint if I would have seen this earlier I would have replied a 2 stroke motor fires every 2 strokes of the piston a 4 stroke fires every 4 IE a 4 stroke from TDC goes down drawing in gas compresses it on the way up fires driving it back down then on the way back up it opens the exhaust then your at TDC again (on vehicles I have seen people be 180 out forgetting the one cycle of the piston) a 2 stroke sprays gas in on the down stroke then compresses and fires and so on so a 4 stroke will only be fireing 1/2 the time that it is supposed to be firing

Ok so I have the same problem as many others but the difference with mine is that it will run and operate like there isnt a thing wrong but all of a sudden will die out. This is what happens, it is sometimes very difficult to start but when it does it will idle all day long if i wanted it to. My son can ride it for about 10 minutes or so and then it will begin to bog down and die when throttle is applied. I can start it right back up and it will idle as if there isnt anything wrong until the throttle is applied again. If I let it sit for a day or so it will act like nothing is wrong until it warms up or when ever it feels like acting up. I have replaced the cdi with a new one and it didnt help. Dont know if the choke could cause this but thats where I'm at with it. Thinking maybe a manual choke might help but not sure. I hope this all makes since but it has me totally confused. Please help! Thanks
