Default 2 stroke 50cc atv

I Have a 2 stroke atv that wont stay running. it was given to me cdi was bad i replaced it cleaned the carb its spotless but dont know how to tune it i know where the air mixture screw is. I was wondering if the gas mixture is wrong its the one that mixes its self i would like to take it off and just mix it my self if i could figure out the ratio. it will run if you choke it will your hand but no cracks in intake

Usually 32:1 is a safe mixture

by placing your hand over the carb to get it to run you are basically choking the carb. That leads me to think you are not getting enough fuel. Have you checked the diaphragm in the carb. You could have some trash in the carb. Do you have a filter on the fuel line?

yea ive cleaned the carb it has a small elec swicth on the back of the carb im not sure what it is. its a minarelli engine on a eton wizz it has a port on the front of the carb the swicth has a needle that goes to the fuel bowl and there is another port that is next to the intake

Or too much air? Is there an air leak somewhere in the intake manifold? By choking it you could be enrichening the mixture to match the extra air sucked into the engine.

I know next to nothing about two stroke engines. Take anything I say with about this with caution...

Bystarter valve perhaps? Does it look like this (click on the thumbnail):

When cold the bystarter valve opens an extra fuel passage that enrichens the fuel/air ratio by adding more fuel. Note how this is different from a standard choke, which enrichens the fuel air ratio by starving it of air. An electric heater in the bystarter valve warms up a wax pellet which expands and pushes this valve closed about the same time the engine is warming up.

These valves usually fail in the open (cold) position (i.e. enrichened) - which is backwards from your problem where you need to choke the carburetor to enrichen it some more.

The screws that hold this on can come loose, plus there is a small gasket between this valve and the carburetor body that needs to be there to prevent air leaks.
