Default baja 90 ATV help.

My son just bought a used baja 90 ATV. We were told by the seller that the idle screw is missing. I just bought a carb kit (A012-022), because I figured it would need a carb rebuild sooner or later. I'm wondering if one of the screws in the kit is the idle screw? As of right now, the only adjustment screw I see on the carb is on the right side of the carb. There is a little phillip's head screw that seems to make the idle go up and down. Could be the mixture screw I suppose. Pretty close to that is an empty hole that I'm assuming is where the idle screw goes. If I plug the hole, it will stall. Thanks for your anticipated help.

Welcome to the forums.

I have never seen an idle screw included in a rebuild kit. Well, that I've gotten. Not familiar with that model carb so hopefully someone who does could answer the question a little more in depth.

If not, then do you know where I can just get the idle screw?

Welcome to the forum 84gsl-se!

I wouldnt think it would come with it either.. but you never know.. Its basically a 4mm screw about 1" long(25.4mm) with a rounded tip and a spring underneath it.. you should be able to find a screw and a spring at your local hardware store..If the kit doesnt have 1 in it.. not sure why it dies if you plug the idle screw hole though.. maybe your missing the fuel screw?

Thanks for the welcome mywifesquad. What I I may end up going to the hardware store for the screw. But what I really need is a pic or diagram of the carb. Are there any links here on the forum for such a thing? Like you said, maybe it's the fuel screw that's missing, but I won't know unless I see a diagram. You said the idle screw has a round end. Is it a tapered round end, or the same round circumference the whole way to the bottom? Thanks.

ok jsut so ya know, not all carbs have a obvious idle screw. i haeva carb withthe screw on the side front and it looks mor elike a mixture screw than an idle but it's an idle screw. so if ya want, take the carb off, take come photos of both sides and the top and bottom and post them/ I'll look them over and see what I find if it is possible to be a different looking screw.

Buy a new carb. They are only about $25.
