I recently bought my son a kart with a 98cc motor on it. It has recently started smoking a lot from the crank case vent and is spitting oil from it as well. I checked the oil level and it was way over filled so I changed the oil and filled it to the correct level. It is still smoking a lot and spitting oil. Not as much but it is still coming out. Besides the smoke, it runs very well. Any help will be much appreciated.

Id guess you have bad rings... was the kart new when you got it?

 

No, it was used but it didn't smoke until after a couple of hours of use. I'm in the process of getting everything together to put a chonda motor on it from Harbor freight. We've got 2 karts and 2 4 wheelers with the same motors and all of them have had their issues. Mostly electrical problems and carb problems so I'm hoping these motors are better. From what i've read, they seem to have less issues.

 

Cant hurt to try the HF engine... with a coupon Ive seen them for $69. Im curious ..where did you get the 4 wheelers that use that style of engine?

 

The 2 four wheelers and one of the karts is the Sunl brand. The fourth one is a FunKart with a the same engine in it. I am switching to the chonda motor to try for a better reliability standpoint hopefully
