I've cleaned the carb 3 times and its definitely clean now...Problem is that it runs for awhile and then dies. 10-15 minutes. I'm running it with a dead battery and jumping it and I'm hoping this is the problem. Otherwise, could it be the voltage regulator or water in the fuel or something I could be missing? thank you. If your CDI is DC powered, and your charging system isn't working, and your battery goes dead while riding, the quad will falter and die. If your CDI is AC powered the dead battery has nothing to do with the engine shutting off.

Do you have a 6 pin CDI? This would have two connectors - a 2 pin and a 4 pin. Some of those CDIs (but not all) are DC powered. 5 Pin CDIs are always AC powered.

You could always get some duct tape and alligator clips and wire a meter to the battery while you're riding. That way you could see if drooping battery voltage always correlates exactly with the engine quitting. Another idea would be to jump the quad to get it running, then turn on the headlights. If that kills the quad engine then it's a pretty good indicator that battery voltage is involved.

 

ya or once started you could totally disconnect a battery termanal that would kill the engine if itd a dc cdi

Make sure the gas cap vent is working. If it is plugged, it will create a vacuum and stop the fuel flow in just about that amount of time ....
