Kill Switches
#1
Is there a way to rid the quad of the need to satisfy safety switches... cause I still can't start this quad with the start button ALL wires seem fine/tight and connected??
CDI unit maybe? how can I test that? 5 pin

there is only one starter interlock safety switch - the brake switch. Short those two wires going to the brake switch going to the brake switch and you're done. But your brake light will be on all the time whenever the ignition switch is on.
Maybe your brake switch is the problem, and maybe not. There's all the wiring, the ignition switch, the start button, possible remote module problems (if you have one plugged in), and the solenoid itself.
The CDI has absolutely *nothing* to do with whether your starter cranks or not. A kill switch problem can prevent spark, but not prevent the starter from turning. Many people mix these two functions up.
But why not simply get a meter and follow the path. See where the 12 volts to the starter solenoid stops, and then you know... Battery to the fuse input, fuse output to the ignition switch input, ignition switch output to the brake switch input, brake switch output to the brake light, etc. This is what you need to do. It isn't that hard. You need a meter and need to be able to follow directions. Do you have a meter?
Remind me: What kind of quad? WHat engine size? Do you have a remote module?

Lynn it's the little 90cc again thing was running fine then came home and it wouldn't do anything... I can jump it thats it!
now the issue I have with using the meter is I don't know where to plug them in to test various things
so right now I grab the meter I put the black on the negitive of the battery I put the red on the soilnoid and yup I got 12v there... other than doing that I have no clue where to touch them to get readings...
like you say to do these test but I can't cause I don't know where to touch... any images or diagrams or video you can show me where to touch... to check these things out...
someone should create a video for testing starting issues step by step as this form is flooding with that question..

here's some videos on the subject. you either want to penetrate the wire jacket to probe it or get your leads into the metal portion of the connection/connectors.
