Id say Tao Tao..(Tao Tao is pronounced like Cow Cow but with a T.) Mainly because there is actually a Tao Tao factory in China.. They produce a lot of the components in house and can control quality better that way.. The rest are built by factories that will build what ever is popular.. One of the factories Jetmoto was using is now a "world leader" in lawn care equipment..

Well, I've got a TaoTao 125 buggy (125-ATK), and the welds look like a *****'s ***. I mean bad. That said, any, and I mean any, chinese quad or buggy is going to require some kind of maintenance. I generally look for one that has a good parts supply. For now, TaoTao is fine. I am able to get parts without a problem. These things sell so cheap for a reason. If you're willing to work on them, then enjoy the lower priced machine.

i had a Roketa 150cc go kart and it was great. that sonofagun cut a hole in the wind. the entire time we had it, we rolled it 4x and i ended up with one broken bolt. all of the welds held up just fine.

That GY6 based honda 150 clone is a good little motor. Lots of upgrades available for it. I've owned a Baja 90, a Carter Talon 150, and currently have a Hammerhead 250, and a Joyner 250 with a Polaris 400 transplant. Some of the chinese stuff is not so bad, others are bad.

Here's a pic of the lower control arm on my TaoTao so you can see what I mean.

oooh yuck. that is bad. you are right, that honda 150cc gy6 clone is a good little motor. after i got rid of the kart cause we outgrew it, i found out about all of the mods folks were doing to it and wished i had it back. i enjoyed that kart. the other thing i agree on is that some of the imports are good, some are decent, other just suck and are horrendous.
glad you're doing alright with yours!

I think the Roketa quads and buggies were pretty decent. But yeah, that 150 you can get big bore kits, stroker cranks, four valve heads, performance exhaust, CDIs, coils, etc, etc. The horsepower is in the head on those. Once you rework the head, or go to one with bigger valves or the four valve head, they really wake up. Nice, reliable little air cooled motor. And the CVT transmission is very tunable.
