you can cross over any of these parts over to a major brand name if you want to pay the money.. Parts are so cheep for these things from china i usually order spares. Just ordered 2 cdi's for $15 shipped..

Yes, the CDI boxes for the small Chinese engines are pretty cheap; I have
bought several. But when you get above 250cc or so, it's a different
world. (And not so many on eBay, or at retailers of Chinese parts.)

Consider one from Casoli Moto. I have not tried them yet. I have tried
a new CDI box, supposed rated for up to 300cc, and the spark was
too weak for my Kawasaki KLF300A.

But you DO have a stator and/or reg/rect/wiring problem to fix. Good luck.

Your quad seems to be made by Her-Chee Moto of Taiwan, and OEM parts
diagrams and sales seem to be well-supported in the US by AJParts.net.
Her-Chee Moto seems to be the OEM for at least the CanAm-BRP Rally 200
ATV.

It makes sense that CanAm has chosen a Taiwanese OEM for their smaller
quads, just as Polaris has chosen Aeon Motor, and Arctic Cat has Kymco.
All from Taiwan, not mainland China.

Yamaha seems to be working with HSUN....mainland Chinese, NOT Taiwanese.
I don't know about the other majors. Yamaha is not open about their Chinese
sources, AFAIK, and the other majors may not be either. Others may have more
to add here.

Hi
I have the same problem here!
I am wondering if the original poster can tell me what he did to fix it? It was a while ago?
I'm tempted to replace the stator, cdi and the regulator/rectifier if I can get them cheap.
Mine is an 04 model 300cc exactly the same. Any help please folks.

Yeah, it has been a year. I never saw a CDI box with a hole blown in it.

Did that happen to you?

Anyway, I would test the stator to see if you are getting pulses before
throwing parts at your ATV.

Yup the same thing happened to me. After some research it seems the stator if faulty will only give out less voltage than it's supposed to. The most common cause for Blown cdi units is a faulty regulator. Not 'regulating' the voltage to the cdi under high revs (as higher the revs the more voltage from the stator) and then boom! So replace regulator first, and a new cdi. If no spark them try plug, coil and stator. That's my plan.

This is a stator from a 125cc GY6. Wonder why it failed?

Anyway, a new one is less than $20, and a new reg is less than $10. This
buggy is now running.

I have also discovered a number of bad coil caps. Check the resistance,
especially on new ones.

The hardest part of stator replacement is getting the rotor off...you need
the special tool.
