Default Need help with a quad and dirtbike

I have a quad (86 Honda TRX 70) and a dirt bike(Coolster QG-214FC), I am having issues with both of them. First, the TRX 70 smokes grey until it warms up which started after I changed the oil shortly after I purchased it, I used ATV 10w40 oil, other than that it runs great, I was just wondering what could cause it, the rings maybe? Now the dirt bike, it runs great, but doesn't want to shift gears, I mean, if you rock the shifter back in forth it will eventually shift, I got the bike free and am just hoping it is fixable, also they said they used normal motor oil in it. I am assuming there is no hope for the dirt bike, but the TRX has me stumped.

bike sounds like a fairly easy fix, i don't know much about that bike. is it a manual clutch assembly? is the shifter bent? i would be willing to bet the previous owner would hit the gears hard with the foot and has bent the shifter or the shifting fork inside. OR, you may get lucky and just need a clutch adjustment.

as for the honda, i would say rings are starting to wear....what's the compression reading? you could always post that issue in the honda section.

Yeah, it is a manual clutch, and I don't have anything to test the compression, but I will get something soon and test it. Thank you.

After some time, I decided to take the engine apart, I found that the manufacturers put one of the things on backwards! After turning it around it somewhat works, however, something seems to be keeping it from going into gears sometimes, so I am going to take the other side of the engine apart.
