Yes the burnt smell was fried clutch. I would try and get a whole new clutch.. at the very least new fiber plates, steel plates and springs..

Default Similar issue with taotao 250d

Im having a similar issue i only just bought it used. It seems to run fine for maybe 15 20 mins of screwing around then i tried goin up an down a big hill heard something slip or grind and i was dead in the water and seemed as if it was "between gears" neutral and reverse my reverse light was on dimly had to shut it down for a few mins got into first by hand and it was fine again... This had happend a couple times now. Any ideas?
