Is this the vacuum bleeder one? If so, I found this to be a hit n miss. When it does work, it works great. I found that some systems don't like the sucking, I think some systems have diaphragms that don't allow this. So far, pushing fluid has always worked for me. As long as the lines are clear.

Yes sort of like the mighty vac... never had a problem with it.. have done what you talk about also... used a shampoo bottle with a nipple on it.. put 3/16 hose on it and pushed the fluid up thru the system.. saw and bought the HF pump and never loked back.. now there is a auto shop across from my machine shop... he had a industrial sized one... must hold 2 gals easy... I use it now...

I always wanted to build a push fluid type of tool, figured a bicycle pump would be all the pressure needed and a reservoir of some type. Never got past the thought stage.
