Either the idle adjustment on the side of the carb is turned up too high, or the slack adjustment on the throttle cable next to the throttle is too tight. Rookie move to increase the idle that way. Last option is something else is holding the side from returning to the close position. You would need to disassemble the card to correct that.

Like whygostock said, its 1 of 3 things with the carb. the idle screw is turned in to far, there is no free play in the throttle cable ,or something physically is keeping the slide from dropping into the carb..
It also could be a vacuum leak causing a high idle.

The black spacer and o-ring between the carb and intake are known fro cracking. We offer replacement spacers as well as upgraded air filters.

I have this same issue, when I start my Yamaha YFM 350 R it wouldn't sit idle at all unless the choke was on even if I was riding it and I came to a stop it would need choke to run.
so I replaced all the jets in and completely renewed the carb, now it wont even sit in idle with the choke on I need to Feather the throttle to keep it running, i tried to adjust the idle screw but it has seized so i'm going to renew that, but for now is there anyone that has any other ideas of what it could be ?
