I have a 07 Tank Sport I just got a "good deal" on. There is no spark. I found a few broken wires and plugs that I repaired. I have a little red light on the CDI now and I cant for the life of me find if it is a good or bad thing.

 

have you checked for voltage to the coil or wire condition & connections to it?

 

I had checked b4 finding the broken wires but haven't since then. It started raining last night and I don't have an indoor workshop. I was concerned about the red light on the cdi though. Is it a warning light or does it show the cdi powered now?

 

Are you sure its a CDI your looking at and maby not a remote kill switch or something? Iv never seen a CDI with a light on it

 

I would try and pull the safety wire from the CDI which is the middle one usually blue and see if you get a spark that way.

 

Actually the CDI Kill wire is center wire, Black w/ White Stripe.

 

On mine its blue
