Well guys, the ATV gods are still not happy. I installed the brand new carb, and was happy to see that no gas leaked from it. However, no amount of laying on the starter even got the thing to burble. I hand choked the air intake tube with no results.

I haven't checked compression yet, but can't think of anything else to look at.

Ideas????

Before you put on the carb, did you verify the float was functioning as it should? Use a short piece of fuel line connected to carb fuel inlet and blow while carb is upright and it should blow thru, keep blowing while turning the carb upside down and it should seal.

I wouldn't throw any more parts at it until you do a compression check since you bought it basically as a basket case.

Did you clean airbox, filter and cranckase out? If not, do it. Did you take the plug out? It will be wet with fuel.

Looks like I'm heading to O'Reilly's to borrow the compression test kit. I'll keep you all updated. I'm really hoping a top end rebuild is not in the future.

BTW, I got this thing for free. The rear plastics are shot and am wondering if/where they sell new ones.

I checked compression today and it registered 105. I'm not sure what it's supposed to be, but that seems fine. I popped out the plug and checked for spark and it's doing it's job too. The plug is wet when I pull it out. I lay on the starter and get no results. I'm stuck again without knowing which direction to go.

Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks!

Another side note. I drained the transmission case and didn't know what to put back in so I used automatic car transmission fluid, the red stuff. Is that going to be ok, or should I have used something else?

Looking at the Dinli 90 engine, looks very similar to the older Polaris 90. Minimum compression on Polaris 90 shows to be 115 psi so you're kinda sorta down there. Our gear cases from the factory were filled with oil that looked almost as thick as 80/90 but the Polaris gear case oil for these was consistency of engine oil.Probably any atv gear case oil you can get at a lot of auto stores would be good enough.
