Taotao 110 problems...
#1
Just picked up a taotao 110 atv which needed rewiring etc...I've don't all that and it's now running. However....... it starts and idles fine, but has very little power. Jump on it and it 'ok-ish' for a minute then it just slows right down and stops.
I've cleaned out the carb etc etc and that's all good.
However I did notice that there's a LOT of smoke inside the engine case when I checked the oil. So I started it up and opened the oil filler and it was just pumping smoke out. Im pretty good with my mechanical knowledge and im pretty sure that's not right.
I'm assuming it's losing compression down past the piston rings. Can anyone confirm this??

Blue smoke from the exhaust is a far better indication of bore wear than any fumes in the crankcase. If you take the filler cap off, all single cylinder engines pump a lot of air in and out as, in your case, 110cc of air is sucked in every time the piston rises, and blown out again as it falls. Do a compression test, and if it is less than 90psi you need to take the head off and check valves, bore and rings for wear.
