Default Help - DINLI 90cc got it running / won't kill

New to ATVs. Fixing a 2004 DINLI Diamondback 601

1) Runs super strong - but engine dies after one minute drive time. Will not restart when warm. (presumed coil or carb).
2) Battery would also drain when sitting. (presumed short)

I removed and charged the battery and quickly found the 5 wire CDI attached to the top left frame, hidden under the seat tested bad.

So I replaced the CDI with a $10 EBAY 5 wire, put it all back together and the ATV started up immediately, but now:

* ATV continues to run with kill switch AND/OR key in off position (!)
* With CDI removed, I'm seeing continuity between ground and 1st white/red bullet connector and 2nd black/red bullet connector wires coming from of the harness to the CDI
* The 3rd Black/white wire coming from harness into CDI has no continuity between black/white wire from kill switch itself and frame when switch is either on or off
* The 4th and 5th orange and black wires come from the harness into a two prong connector and plug into the CDI's 2 prong connector.

Any thoughts? Am diagnosing short, but that's not easy, so looking for advise from any who know these systems many thanks

The black/white is the kill wire and should be earthed with the ignition switch one way and open circuit with the switch in the other position, usually earthed when off, but not always that way round. Seems very strange neither kill switch and key switch earth that wire so I would guess at the black/white being broken or bad connection. When you fit a new CDI always check the earth wire(s) to it are sound as well, a bad earth will blow your new CDI.
