CDI problem - wrong CDI?
#1
Hi,
I Got an Old 200 cc loncin with a broken CDI - No spark. I bought a new 6 pin ac recomended from the dealer. But it dosnt run well with the new one. Its hard to start, runs hard and sounds like it some times wanna go in the opposite direction when starting. When I borrow the CDI from my second machine it runs smoooth and nice. The dealer send a new CDI like the first (ac), but with the same result.
anybody knows what the problem is?
p.s. sorry for my english. Im danish

Seems like the advance curve for the new CDI is wrong. They do not differ much as a rule, so your old Loncin must be unusual. I believe CDIs with adjustable advance curves are available, you may have to get one of those. Alternatively, if you can find what Honda engine yours is a copy of, and get the CDI for that Honda, it may work better.

I now checked with an ignition gun. The new CDI is about 10 degres more advanced Than the Old CDI at idle speed. At higher revs the new dosnt advance at all. The Old one does.
so i need another CDI with the right advance. Has anyone experience with this?
