Default Clutch or Gear problem?

Hello everyone,
I recently purchased what i believe to be a tao tao 125cc. I got it running, and went to test drive it. It shifts fine from neutral to 1st and through the forward gears. However, It will shift in to reverse just fine, but when you push on the throttle it will move backwards about 5 feet and will aggressively jump into 1st gear, completely skipping neutral. Any thoughts?? I dismantled the motor and opened the bottom casing and looked over the gears really well and didn't seem to find any broken teeth.

Thanks,
Tpotter1100

I think i may have found the issue. I removed the clutch cover and dug down to the shift shaft. I noticed by changing gears and spinning the transmission shaft that the shifting drum or cam moved in and out an awful lot. I am assuming that this is not a good thing. Does anyone have an exploded view of how the transmission/shifting forks/shaft/shift cam/ goes together for a 125cc with 3forward and 1 reverse?

Thanks,

Ok, now I feel like an idiot. But honestly if it works I'll feel like a champ! haha
Being a noob to these little motors I am not sure what to look for at first. But with a lil research and some youtube videos I discovered that there is a screw located on the stator side that holds the shift drum/cam into place. and as luck would have it...It was missing from the motor from the previous owner. With a new screw and washer in place now I hope that this solves my issue. Updates to follow tomorrow.

Hate to put a dampener on your joy but, if that screw and washer were inside the engine cases, they probably still are and my bounce up onto the gears or crankshaft, doing a lot of damage. At least take a good look around in there to check if you can find them.
