booooo,
If you have " no pull " on the clutch shaft you mean you can turn the shaft more 1/4 turn, and you could pull the shaft out a little bit.
Two things,
one ---- inside there is a short Horizontal shaft called " Rack Clutch Release "this meets the Verticle shaft Called " Pinion Clutch Release " which come out of your crank Case, if the Pinion Shaft is pulled too high, it's possible that the Rack Shaft turned so now the groves dont make contact with the pinion Shaft groves any more.
two ---- it's possible the the groves on either shaft's are strip.
You Still have too take the cover off, Just Drain Your Oil, and Your Coolant " remember to Loosen Rad cap when Drainning Coolant", you do not have to remove water pump cover , only the two Right hand side screws of the water pump cover, and all the short screws around the clutch cover, nothing will come flying out it's just a cover,
you could also check at this web site http://216.37.204.206/ecatv/suzuki_o...ype=13&a=2&b=8
you will see what I mean Rack Clutch shaft has groves only on one side, which it meets the bottom of the Pinion Shaft groves
Rack Clutch Release is # 17
Pinion Clucth Release is # 18
Good Luck , I Hope this will help you,

no there is no spring but are you saying you have no pull what so ever from your clutch?maybe your clutch is out or there could also be something wrong w/the shaft...lean it up on its side so you dont loose any oil and take the side cover off and see what is wrong w/it that is the best thing to do...i have a 91 LT250R and mine did this once and i had to replace the whole clutch but it was only like $60 soo... not to bad..

Did you disconnect the clutch cable from the arm going into the case? That arm has to spin as the cover comes off unless the teeth are stripped on it.
I’m still not quite sure exactly what the problem is so I may be rambling here. You said that the shaft just pulls right up. From that it sounds to me like it is pulling up out of the case. If this is so, I believe there is a clip inside the case that holds that shaft in. It may have broke or came of letting the shaft go up instead of pulling the rack and engaging the clutch.
