Default Warrior Accel. Pump Help

Hey guys,

I have the older style warrior carb that has the accelerator pump, It is sticking sometimes and doesnt want to work causing me to have a bog if i hit the throttle very hard. I took the plunger out and cleaned it up with some fine grit sandpaper and it helped some but it still hangs in places, i am considering putting it in the lathe and using sandpaper to try to clean it up better. Also the spring is rusted and not working very well, i dont have one like it in my carb spring boxes and was told an ink pen spring works well. If anybody knows any way to try and make the pump work better please lemme know.

Thanks In Advance-
Ryan-

Default Warrior Accel. Pump Help

Did you say you are using 2 springs? that would make for one stiff pumper. Years back, I replaced the one in my Wolverine (same motor/carb) with a pen spring,it is the exact size of the stock, but much stiffer, I have not had one problem in several years since then. The cleaning and polishing of the pump is also a good idea, mine had a small burr that caused it to catch near the bottom.

Default Warrior Accel. Pump Help

when i bought my warrior the owner said it had been setting up for a year and he cranked it every month what a lie it had been setting for longer than a year the carb was all gummed up. the accelerator pump was stuck after setting it in chem dip overnight it still would not free up.after trying to force it out using air and also pulling on the rod i broke it and then had to drill it out rethread the hole and putting a bolt in it finally i got it out and replaced it with a new one. to keep it from happening again i put 2 springs in it and it worked fine no problems at all
