I took this picture while doing my one-way a couple weeks ago.. remember to get some strong 8mm bolts if your doing a one-way on a raptor. The one bolthead almost got me like a drive-by on MLK blvd.


Puller bolts

Class 8.8 metric worked for me, get the bolts that arent threaded all the way up the bolt, they are stronger. Remember to watch for the flying flywheel too, that thing comes off pretty violent and could take your arm

 

That thing must super tight!

I talk to a guy who was replacing his one way. He pulled the cover and found he had broken all 6 of the allen bolts off the back. He could only find ONE of the heads.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif[/img] This is the first time I had heard of it. Has this happened to anyone else?

 

I heard of one or 2 guys, it might have been the same guy both times but I think it was replaced one time already and he went back to the shop and they took care of him. I dunno anymore with the way things get talked about on forums it gets around and comes full circle. Like stories of 2002 tranny failures. I have heard of one bonafide failure, but from 15 different people you know??

No, no safety glasses LOL it will be a recommendation on my site though when doing this one-way guide.

 

I had some trouble getting the flywheel off the 2nd time around...wound up ordering the CORRECT puller from a company that supplies tools for a much larger company. The larger conpany did'nt have a clue for the Raptor puller. The correct puller zapped it right of......I like too wrap the flywheel in a blanket before taking it off.....learned that the hard way..[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img].

 

Yep, this aint really the right puller but it works great and is low cost. you just gotta remember to build out the bolts a little with washers or the bolts gets sucked into the slots like mine did.

I couldnt find the right bolts after I broke the ones in the picture, I couldnt find anything in the same pitch that long or longer. I believe they were 8mm 1.25 pitch but I used 1.00 pitch which were plenty long and since I only had to thread them in less than 1/2" I didnt get any cross threading, if you hold the 1.25 pitch against the 1.00 it will line up almost that far.

Once I had newer better bolts and washers to bridge them out further past the slots it came off quick with one good zip of the impact. I couldnt believe the pop it made.

 

Its pretty funny to hear people talk about how stuck on their flywheel was/is. I took mine of with the same puller as 007. I took it off with a 10" cresnet wrench. It had a little force behind it, but nothing like what I have heard. The second time I took it off, don't ask, it was easier than the first time. It hadn't been run in between times though.
