I have this god awful noise from 0 to 7 mph then goes away. Only way to explain is it sounds like this if you can imagine..... waaaaaaahhhh then quits as you accelerate more and does not do it in reverse. This only started after having the black spring installed. Had it re installed a second time just to make sure it was correct. It seems to be coming from the vicinity of the front pulley. Anybody experience this and know how to get rid of it..... doesnt effect anything other than my ears...... thanks....

It does sound like your hearing the gears. I think your just noticing it now because your trying to listen to the quad now to notice if its doing anything strange after the install. I just installed a stiffer spring today in my P650 and the I love it, no more hesitation and no more belt slipping. I never noticed any more noise.
When you did the install did you grease the proper areas again? Did you follow Nyroc's instructions?

I had a shop do it, I thought it was done wrong so I rode this way for awhile and had it redone again, with no change. It seems like it comes directly from the area of the actuator lever maybe...it should not make this much noise although it seems to have no problems.. unfortunately nyroc doesnt cover anything like this......

One thing that I can tell you is that the 650 makes more strange noises than any other quad that I have ever ridden. All of my friends say the same thing about my quad. I think that I hear the same thing, but it is just the noise of the tighter belt. Remember that the stronger spring is working to hold the rear pulley sheaves together and the centrifigal force of the front pulley pulling the belt tighter is trying to force the rear sheaves apart. While all of this is going on, the belt is hugging the rear pulley tighter. Meanwhile, up front on the drive pulley, the centrifigal forces of the spinning clutch weights is trying to pull the two sheaves together, and it is "fighting" with the rear pulley, so a bit more noise is to be expected. This action is what makes the black spring so desirable, since the belt doesn't have as much room to slip and wear out either itself or the pulley sheaves. Hope this helps.
PS and if I said anything that is off base, anyone please step in and correct me.

If you think it's the brake take off the cover and try it with mybe it could be the brake. There could be some adj. there not sure. I have rode mine around the yard with cover tied to the side.just try to careful and not to get your leg or fingers in it. The prairie does bite in in more places than one LOL

You may try pulling the fuse to the KEBC that is located under the seat to see if the noise goes away. Since you said that it didn't make the noise in reverse, it sounds like it is possibly a bad bearing in the drive clutch. The KEBC fork pushes on this bearing at low forward speeds only and not in reverse. If the bearing is bad it can be replaced by itself or by replacing the entire cover as the repair manual suggests. I replaced the bearing with a German made SKF bearing that costs about $60. The cover with the bearing can be ordered from Kawi for around $66. I wanted to try a different type of bearing than the stock one from Kawi. So far after about 400 miles no noises!! I hope this helps.
