500 mi. dealer maintenance // squeaky suspension
#1
Two questions:
Honda's maintenance schedule recommends a dealer service after the first 500 miles on a new Rancher or Foreman. Best Honda shop price I've found is 5 hrs. / $250 per machine.
How important is this ? If I'm keeping the valve lash in specs. and changing the lubricants, is that pretty much it?
ALSO:
My Foreman has squeaky front suspension. The suspension works great, but there's a rubber-to-metal squeaking that shows up now and then at slow speeds (and when stopped, if you push the front up & down). Sounds like suspension bushings squeaking on metal, but without disassembling the front suspension, I can't pinpoint it.
Has anyone else had this problem?
If it is simply "dry" rubber bushings, what's the best lube (graphite, silicone, bearing grease, what?) that'll solve the squeak without deteriorating the bushing rubber?

Our Recon & 250EX had the same problem. It was just the shocks needed greasing.
