Guys, please be patient and persistent. I've sent a couple of messages without rejection (not multiple votes; one post was to verify the address); I think others have successfully communicated also.
The correct URL, from the Forest Service itself, is:
roads/wo_caet-slc@fs.fed.us
That URL is imbedded in the hyperlink in the initial post on this topic.
Perhaps volume has been too high for the Forest Service server to accept your message when you tried posting (however, the Clinton Administration HAS experienced an extraordinary problem with E-mail messages, especially the subpoenaed ones, even though the Vice President invented the Internet!).
Your effort communicating is appreciated; please keep trying.

P.S. You can go to the Forest Service home page, http://www.fs.fed.us and point and click on icons until you get to "How To Make A Comment," this path should lead ultimately to the URL above.

here is my letter to them:
I am extremely upset that the forest service is even thinking about closing these roads and areas as roads help the following:
1. fight fires
2. allow EMS personal access to plane crash sites and much more
3. allow the PUBLIC access to there OWN LAND for thousands of uses includeing hunting, fishing,ORV use, mushroom hunting, bird watching, site seeing ect
4. Allow access for environmental studies.
Hey, if the public looses there own land, why should we the public vote to continue the funds that fund the forest service when there will be no need for a "forest service"
Thank you.
I tryed my best not to sound like a ORV nut that i am, I threw a bunch of B.S that I would never do to make my point to these wacko eco freak people

great job on your letter. it's good that everyone is sending correspondence to the forest service on this one, but let's make sure we're not just griping (i'm sure there's a better word...)about the fact that roads MIGHT be shut down. what we really need to do is express our DESIRE to be part of the decision making process as the public. the forest service's proposal really does not shut down forest roads by itself. it sets in place a framework by which roads will be determined to be necessary or not. THIS is where we need to be concerned. tell the usfs you, the public, MUST be involved in this process and, as an atv user, your road/trail usage intentions are no less imortant than those of fisherman, hunters, etc. and be SURE to read these proposals before commenting on them.
keep it up, opinions in numbers count.

Fakie, while I agree with your approach, recommending reasonable, civil and relevant comments, I must say: the rest of the camel just followed its nose into the tent!
Yesterday, President Clinton announced a sweeping moratorium on National Forest roadbuilding ("Clinton Releases Forest Plan," Washington Post, May 10, 2000; page A8 (www.washingtonpost.com)).
The example letter on this topic is a good one.
In my own comments to the Forest Service, I mentioned my concern that OHV access to public lands should be retained, and that National Forests should be used instead of funtioning as museums.
A Senate staffer, speaking to a group, revealed the Clinton strategic agenda, to make the National Forests AND National Parks as one; that is, preservation, not use, becoming the key objective. In the last year of his presidency, Clinton hopes to create an alternative legacy than the one history now affords him, a legacy as "The Conservationist President."
In point of fact, in the first seven-and-a-half years of his Presidency, Clinton hasn't proposed a single square inch of new Wilderness Area, through the legitimate process of Congressional debate, advice, and consent. Here, in the sundown phase, Clinton's all for the unilateral fiat, using Executive Orders creating de facto Wilderness Areas, bypassing all discussion and any opposing points of view.
Bottom line: The Clinton Administration would prohibit ATV access to public lands; expressing your comments on the Forest Service Road issue becomes increasingly important for maintaining access to YOUR public land.
End of sermon. Sorry!
